Windows Vista® 32 bit
All ONYX internal testing, and beta test site reports indicate the ONYX Graphics workflow products are compatible with Vista® 32 bit configurations.
Windows Vista® 64 bit
All ONYX internal testing, and beta test site reports indicate the ONYX Graphics workflow products are compatible with Vista® 64 bit configurations. The ONYX Graphics workflow products are not optimized as 64 bit software packages.
ONYX Workflow Products Program Installation
Program installation tests have not given any issues when the software is installed by a user who is logged on with Administrator privileges. When the software is installed on a Windows Vista® operating system the customer is given an informational notice that says:
"Administrative privileges and UAC elevation are required to edit most printer settings. You must restart the application and ""Run as administrator"" in order to edit these settings."
Virtual Printers
Testing of virtual printers by ONYX and beta test sites indicates that the virtual printers were able to be shared and printed to by both PCs and MAC systems. In cases where the virtual printer is installed on the 64 bit system there is no available support for virtual printers to be shared to XP systems. ONYX uses the Adobe PostScript drivers for virtual printers and installation of shared drivers may not function.
Color Device Support
USB : Support for these devices depends on whether their manufacturer has a supported USB driver. Not all previously supported / legacy devices were available to be tested.
Serial (9 pin & 23 pin D type connectors) : If the system has COM ports, the tested devices worked OK.

USB to COM port adapters: None that have been tested or reported being tested by our beta test sites have worked. This is due to the problem that there are no Vista® drivers for these devices.
Special Printer Issues
Mimaki printers will not function correctly with USB or Firewire support until Mimaki provides updated drivers for printers that connect exclusively with these technologies.

Any printer that requires SCSI connectivity - No ASPI layer support for SCSI devices used by printers.

ColorSpan 64S
Other printers using Videonet connectivity are not supported on Vista 64 bit operating systems
